Join us for an enlightening panel discussion focusing on the unique challenges and commonalities between the non-profit and commercial sectors of the art world. Moderated by Kristen Becker, Director of Museum Engagement at Marianne Boesky Gallery, this panel will feature Carolyn Ramo, Executive Director of Artadia, Anna Stothart, Director at Lehmann Maupin, and Kelly Taxter, Associate Curator at the Jewish Museum, discussing the ways they have successfully bridged the gap between sectors.

About the speakers
Carolyn Ramo is the Executive Director of Artadia, a national non-profit that provides curator-driven direct grants to artists in seven US cities. Prior to serving at Artadia, Ramo was a partner at Taxter & Spengemann, a contemporary art gallery that focused on emerging artists. From 2007-10, Ramo was the Production Director at David Zwirner gallery. Ms. Ramo has also worked at Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Anna Stothart is currently a Director at Lehmann Maupin, New York and Hong Kong. Previously, she was the Brown Foundation Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the San Antonio Museum of Art, where she reinstalled the contemporary collection galleries and was the presenting curator for the exhibitions 28 Chinese and Corita Kent and the Language of Pop. Prior to her time in San Antonio, Stothart served as Assistant Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, where she organized the solo exhibitions of Mickalene Thomas, Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg, Adriana Varejão, and Meleko Mokgosi. She has also acted as presenting curator for the exhibitions Ragnar Kjartansson: Song, LaToya Ruby Frazier: WITNESS, and Jim Hodges: GIVE MORE THAN YOU TAKE. Stothart received a BA from Western Washington University, Bellingham and an MA from Tufts University, Boston.
Kelly Taxter is an Associate Curator at the Jewish Museum in New York, where she focuses on contemporary exhibitions and public programs. Currently on view at the museum is the exhibition Take Me (I’m Yours), which she co-curated with Hans Ulrich Obrist and Jens Hoffmann. Taxter has also worked on solo exhibitions with Laurie Simmons, Alex Israel, Peter Shire, Martin Creed, Harry Dodge, Park McArthur, Robert Longo, and the designer Isaac Mizrahi. Prior to her work at the Jewish Museum she was consulting curator at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art. From 2003- 2011 she co-owned and directed the gallery Taxter & Spengemann. Taxter received a BA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Tufts University, and an MA from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College.
Kristen Becker works for Marianne Boesky Gallery as the Director of Museum Engagement, a position she created to help bridge the gap between the commercial gallery and the non-profit sectors of the art world. She travels domestically and internationally to arts institutions, art fairs, and related events to promote the gallery¹s mission and program. Previous to her current position, Becker spent seven years as Director at Luhring Augustine, where she worked with such artists as Ragnar Kjartansson and Glenn Ligon. She has also worked for Robert Mnuchin and Dominique Levy at L&M Arts, SLP Art Culture Commerce, Arts Management Services, and Gorney Bravin + Lee. Kristen received her master's degree in Museum Studies from George Washington University in Washington, DC and she holds a BA in Anthropology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.
